"Making an Impact" will help to enhance our current Lucy Calkins research unit.  Students will be able to research activists and pick one that inspires them to research more deeply. As teachers, one dream we have is for our students to become activists and recognize their own voice is powerful. Making an impact, big or small, is a common theme throughout the year with the hope that they are passionate and inspired about something and feel confident enough to do something about it.
We plan to house sets of these activism books in the library. They will be available for teachers to access and share with their students. Much of this work will add to what teachers do with Place-Based Education throughout the year and will be referenced often.
