Let's Design Our Own Mandarin T-Shirt

This grant will support a creative project where Mandarin I and II students design custom t-shirts using Mandarin language and cultural symbols. The project will enhance the existing curriculum by combining language learning with visual design, allowing students to apply their Mandarin skills in a meaningful, real-world context. Students will practice writing characters, exploring idiomatic expressions, and learning about the cultural significance of symbols and colors, all while creating their own t-shirt designs. This hands-on approach will reinforce vocabulary, sentence structure, and cultural understanding, fostering deeper engagement with the language. Additionally, it promotes collaboration and pride in their achievements and learning a new language, as students wear and display their designs.
