Teachers at Creekside have noticed students lack experience with being audience members due to the impact of the pandemic and the lack of assemblies and presentations to attend. I also feel that our students need increased exposure to new, relevant, and engaging literature. In addition to that, our kids really need lessons in empathy and inclusion.

Claudia Whitsitt is the author of the Kids Like You Series, which addresses common issues middle and high school students face, set in the context of historical events. The core message of Claudia's presentations is diversity, tolerance, and acceptance. She focuses on little changes anyone can make to make a difference in the world. By connecting her talks with historical events, students learn how past and present actions affect the future, and what they can do to influence lives in a positive way.
