Recess Buddies Equipment and Activities

The purchase of recess games and equipment for use by 3rd and 4th grade students to promote social skills between general education and special education students. These activities will be utilized by students who generally struggle with typical recess activities, and used by 'recess buddies' to work on sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive peer relationships. Many special education students struggle to engage with competitive recess games, large group activities, and navigating the busy playground. Having a supply of games that they could engage in with a small group of peers or a partner would encourage them to participate in peer activities in an environment that is more comfortable for them. Having some more interesting activity choices for recess would encourage students to initiate interactions with their peers and expand their peer connections.
