Classroom Critters

Is a program where kids are able to get up close and personal with all types and species of animals.  Classroom Critters was introduced with the help and support from the Educational Foundation of Dexter school grant process.

"I love this new teaching tool because it captivates the children's
attention and is interactive. The children do not want lessons to
end when we use the Webster Board!"

Tubano Drums

Wow! What a sound and what enthusiasm the fourth graders and multi-agers
have for world drumming. We are learning Ensemble #1 from the World
Drumming curriculum. What's most pleasing is to see typically uncoordinated,
fine-motor challenged kids catch on to the rhythms after repeated
chances to play. I am very greatful for the amount of money that your
group generously gave me to purchase these drums for Wylie's music room.

Gameplan

Dear Educational Foundation of Dexter,

Thank you for funding the GAMEPLAN: Interactive Music Enrichment for 750 students attending Cornerstone and Bates Elementary Schools this year.

The full color charts and visuals are very attractive and sturdy enough to withstand many children’s hands! Students have been able to concretely practice what they have been learning as they use the manipulatives included in GAMEPLAN. As an added feature, the 260 pieces of the charts and visuals were labeled and organized for storage and were a cinch to pack up for the summer last week!

The full color interactive music displays have considerably brightened the walls of the music classrooms and I constantly finding students searching out the walls, boards, and instruments for the name of an instrument or the vocabulary words they are looking for.

The activity book is full of repertoire and activities that spark creativity and higher-level thinking skills –as well bringing joy to students’ lives as we have so much fun in the music room!

The Rhythmically Moving and Music for Creative Dance CDs have provided the music for many opportunities to folk dance and move creatively. In addition, several other teachers have borrowed these CDs for use in their classrooms.

This project has indeed been effective. Students’ comprehension levels have improved after experiencing the visuals, manipulatives, and activities provided by the GAMEPLAN materials. I am looking forward to continuing this project next year.

Thank you so much for your support of learning in Dexter Community Schools.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Patterson
